Cast on 70 s tightly on US 5 (to make sure it has enough hold at the top).
Knit back and forth, top down.
Knit 1 row while placing markers like this:
First amrker after 7 s, second 4 s after that, third 48 s after that, and forth 4 s after that.
The 4 s between the markers in each side marks where the shoulders and sleeves will be knitted.
Knit 8 rows in garter stitch.
Use US 6 and continue like this:
Knit GARTER STITCH between the markers in the sides, as well as the 4 first and 4 last s on the row, these makes the front bands/v-neck-opening.
ALL OTHER stitches will be knitted in stockinette.
Start from the wrong side, and increase on every single row from now. Read through the increasements, and see in which order they shoudl be repeated in the following paragraph.
Increasement 1 a: For front and back pieces, on the outside of the 4 s marking the sleeves/sides:
Knit until the first marker, make 1 left (M1L) just before the marker.
Knit until the second marker, make 1 right (M1R) just after the marker.
Knit until the third marker, M1L just before the marker.
Knit until the forth marker, M1R just after the marker.
Increasements 2 a: For front and back pieces, on the outside of the 4 s marking the sleeves/sides + v-neck:
Knit the first 4 front band s, M1L.
Knit until the first marker, make 1 left (M1L) just before the marker.
Knit until the second marker, make 1 right (M1R) just after the marker.
Knit until the third marker, M1L just before the marker.
Knit until the forth marker, M1R just after the marker.
Knit until 4 s remain on the row, M1R.
Repeat increasement 1a 3 times, and increasement 2a 1 time. Repeat these 4 rows until you’ve kntted a total of 28 rows of increasing (7 increasements for v-shape) = 196 s.
Knit 1 row from the wring side without increasements, and start from the right side and increase only? on every row from the right side from now on:
Alternate between increasement 1 b and 2 b and knit int his order:
Increasement 1 b (right side), no increasement (wrong side), increasement 2 b (right side), no increasement (wrong side)?
Increasement 1 b: For sleeves, on the inside of the markers in the side:
Knit until the first marker, M1R just after the marker.
Knit until the second marker, M1L just before the marker.
Knit until the third marker, M1R just after the marker.
Knit until the forth marker, M1L just before the marker.
Increasement? 2 b: For sleeves, on the inside of the markers in the side + for v-neck:
Knit the first 4 front band s, M1L.
Knit until the first marker, M1R just after the marker.
Knit until the second marker, M1L just before the marker.
Knit until the third marker, M1R just after the marker.
Knit until the forth marker, M1L just before the marker.
Knit until 4 s remain on the row, M1R.
Continue like decribed until you have knitted another 26 rows of increasement = 326 s.
The body
Join the front and back pieces by knitting them in the round in stockinette (= 214 s). Read the rest of the paragraph before starting. Place the s for the sleeves (the garter stitches) on some scrap yarn. Make 4 new s under each sleeve by making backward loops =? 222 s.
When 4 s remain on the first round, you’ll place these on a spare needle, and knit them together woth the opposite front band to create an overlap:
Knit the first s on the main needle (the first front band s on the start of the round) together with the s furthest to the right on the spare needle (K2tog).
Repeat 4 times = 218 s.
NOTE: These 4 front band s should still be knitted in garter s for another 4.3 “.
Swap to US 5 when the piece is about 28” from the top. Decrease10 s evenly on the next round= 208 s. Knit garter stitch for 1.2” and cast off.
Sleeves
56 s. Cast on 2 s at the beginning of the row and 2 s at the end (make backward loops) on the first row = 60 s.
Knit the sleeves back and forth in garter stitch (make sure to start from the correct side, making the ridges continous.) Knit a decrease row like this every 2.7” a total of 6 times:
K1, K2tog, knit until 3 s remain, K2tog, K1.
= 48 s.
Cast off when the sleeve is 15.7”. The sleeves are long, and should be folded up in use.
Knit another sleeve, and assemble from the wrong side.
